MY RIDE

A Never Ending Evolution

My bike started out in 2018 as an inexpensive hybrid mountain bike. It was made by the brand FINISS and had the highest reviews across the internet within $300. Starting with an aluminum frame, 26" wheels, and a 21 speed (3X7) drivetrain. It came with Kenda Cross tires, poor cable Disc Brakes, Shimano V Shifters, Tourney Derailleurs, a cheap FINNIS crank set, narrow aluminum handle bars, and a coil fork typical of cheap MTB's.

My bike eventually evolved to such a point that I no longer considered it a FINNIS at all with the exception of the actual frame. It then had a 29" front wheel/ 27.5" rear wheel and a 11 speed (1X11) drivetrain. It had Continental Trail KingTires, Hydraulic disc brakes, SRAM shifter, SRAM Eagle derailleur, Shimano 1X crank set, wide carbon fiber handlebars, and a Manitou Markhor air fork.

Currently I have a new aluminum frame by Venzo that is a size large which is bigger then my medium Finnis. It has a hollow crank set, and still a 11-50 tooth cassette. I switched the rear wheel to 29" and putting Minions back on both wheels.

Where next? An endurance carbon road frame will be the next big change to my stable for the spring of 2021. I will continue to do MTB but living in a new town that is more suited for road cycling because of my distance from my day job I will be on a road bike the most. Additionally as time goes on I am looking to do some century rides this summer and while its possible on a MTB, a road bike has more endurance options right out my front door.
